Boldness, Uniqueness and Individuality

emo girl
It is very hard to encapsulate and restrict the definition of emo hairstyle. Truth be told, it can be many different things to many different people. For example, this particular type of hairstyle can definitely be classified as emo mainly because of the way the bangs have been styled and parted and also because of the way it has been dyed or colored. As you can see, the bangs are straightened and combed over to the right side of the girl’s face, just above her eyes. This is a very common hairstyle theme, especially for girls espousing the emo lifestyle. The bottom part of the hairstyle seems to be made up of long black-colored extensions that provide contrast to the top part of the hair, which is colored medium blond. Creating a distinction between parts of one’s hair aims to represent boldness, uniqueness and individuality, qualities often associated and represented by the emo way of life.

New Extensions: Eva Longoria

It looks like Eva just got herself some new locks. Apparently, the practical bob she was sporting for her storyline on Desperate Housewives. But, Eva we understand your desire for long locks, especially around the holidays.

We don't think this is the best picture of her extensions, but we are sure the next event she's at, she'll represent her new hair better.

Holiday Hair Trends We Love

High Hair... This holiday we love the modern take on a pompadour hairstyle. The volume is created by teasing the roots with a little hairspray and smoothing the hair at the crown over the teased roots. We of course would throw in a few rows of Lord & Cliff Clip In Hair Extensions to give more volume and length at the back.

Tousled Layered Bob...There's nothing sexier than the tousled and sophisticated bob. Roller set your hair with hot rollers or use velcro rollers while you dress and put on your makeup. Unpin you hair and you have instant bombshell look for the holidays. For those in a pinch for time, we suggest our Beverly Johnson Lacefront Wig Loretta. It already comes in a protein based synthetic styled with these layers but because it is protein based you can add your own curls with rollers or a curling iron.

Braided Grecian Goddess...an easy look to achieve for hair of any length. Simply loosely braid your hair into two braids that end in simple bun to give an effortless and ethereal look for the holidays.

Voluminous Bombshell...ahh Penelope... gorgeous caramel locks that have volume and control. For many of us this look is hard to achieve without extensions. We recommend Smooth and Straight Clip In Extensions in color 479 which gives a rich caramel color with highlights similar to Penelope. We would set the clip in hair extensions with hot rollers while getting ready. Add volume to your hair with a lightweight hairspray such as Aveda Air Control and add in the clip in hair extensions throughout but especially in the crown area. Create a zig zag part in the front and then proceed with caution as you head out for your upcoming Holiday party.

Sunny's Poll: Country Music Awards

How to get Sasha Fierce's Look with Hair Extensions

We love Beyonce at Sunny's Hair & Wigs but we love Sasha Fierce's new look even more. How to achieve her look with Hair Extensions?

We recommend Lord & Cliff One Piece Hair Extensions. Lord & Cliff One Piece offers Remy Human Hair that is all put on a reinforced lace base to create an easy and breezy clip in. Three clips allow you to have an instant mane of hair. But Sasha Fierce offers a new way to wear this style.

Step One: Gently backcomb the crown of your hair and hold with Aveda Air Control Hairspray to create volume at the crown.

Step Two: Using a Denman brush smooth the hair around your hairline straight back and secure with a jeweled bracelet or bobby pins.

Step Three: Backcomb three small sections of your hair above the top lobe of your ear and in the middle of your head and gently clip the Lord and Cliff One Piece Clip In Extension to the three backcombed sections.

Step Four: Gently smooth the One Piece into place and then strike your most fierce pose and scream out "If you liked then you shoulda put a ring on it."

Lord & Cliff One Piece Clip In Hair Extensions are sold at Sunny's Hair & Wigs Atlanta for $160.00

Emo and Scene Kids Part II

emo scene hair
YES, the major difference between emos and scenesters are their attitude. But I don't believe all 'scene kids' have an original personality, as you say 'dont follow the personality'. Yea, they dont follow the emo personality. But they still have one they mostly all have.. they think highly of themselves.

Another difference is, emos are generally natured to black. Scene kids love colors. Rainbows, neon colors..anything and everything!(Although I see emos starting to like rainbows now..xD)

Another thing is the 'obsessions'. Emos love, mostly Jack Skellington, and such things as that. While Scene kids are more into the look of say, Sanrio characters, like Hello Kitty. And also, Gloomy Bear is a big thing for them.

While emos and scenes are close to each other, I think the difference is more than what it seems. It isnt just the personality, but the style too. The common thing shared among them is probably the hair. But scene hair is most definately BIGGER.xD

You should be able to tell the difference, on the spot, from an emo or a scene kid. Guys are harder to distinguish than girls most of the time. But see a guy with a lot of confidence and he seems like hed have a big mouth on him, wearing bright colors, and big sun glasses..I think its safe to assume hes 'scene'. While a guy wearing mostly black, quiet in the corner, walking slowly..well, thats emo. But even if an emo doesnt follow the personality, you can still tell them apart by the overall style.

Pieces of the Hair Puzzle, Tricks of the Clip-In Trade

Pieces of the hair puzzle, tricks of the clip-in trade
Our clip-in extensions have been big sellers for the holiday season, but being hair-fabulous doesn’t come without its share of questions. Fortunately, we at Sunny’s have the answers!

When you shop at a Sunny’s store you get the what’s what and how-to of clip-ins, from color and texture matching to a quick in-person tutorial. Sometimes one of the girls might even take out her hair and do it up again! For those who shop online or just want to brush up on their hair skills, we posted an instructional video for you!

I always have a piece or two left over but my style looks full and finished. I thought I was doing something wrong, but it turns out I’m not the only one. Africa in our Atlanta store says it’s like a puzzle, and she’s right. Eventually, you’ll develop a pattern of styling that you like, but there’s no right or wrong to how you clip them on!

PhotobucketSpeaking of style, don’t forget about coloring clip-ins with funky hair dye for extra length and spice! Orange for tomorrow, red for December. Come the New Year, you can have a new do by adding a couple of hot clip-ins into your regular hair routine. Don’t forget about Valentine’s sweetheart pink and Saint Patrick’s fighting green! Theme hair is the next big trend, and the possibilities are endless!

Photobucket
Now, along with our Silky Straight and Bodywave textures, Sunny’s would like to introduce Sunny’s Custom Clip-ins to our incredible online customers. Pick your hair from Indian Hair to Bohyme and we’ll customize your style to be clipped in or out at a moments notice!

There are so many great new things coming down the line, so clip-in and enjoy the ride! And remember: Change your hair… Change your life!

Sunny's Hair & Wigs New Ad for Atlanta Market

For All Those with Thick Hair

thinning shears

Thinning shears(or thinning scissors as I like to call them) should be used to thin out your hair. I suggest Massugu thinning scissors as these scissors have been designed specifically with the beginning hairdresser in mind. These are simply gap-toothed scissors that cut only half the hair. These also come with various gap sizes, depending on what you need cut away.

I've seen how many people struggle with thick hair and I can just imagine the pain it is to manage it, hope this helps.

Dos & Don'ts of Indian Hair

When people order Remy Indian Hair for the first time, sometimes they are thrown off by its appearance.

Remy hair means that it is totally unprocessed...so it requires a little work to get it to your liking...

But once you have it down...you really won't ever go back to anything else.

So...here are some dos & don'ts for taking care of Indian Hair:

1.DO gently wash Indian Hair in one direction with a detangling shampoo. We recommend Shampoos that don't contain harsh detergents such as Sodium Laureth Sulfates. We personally like Cream of Nature Shampoo, Nopu or Shampoo for Dry Hair sold at Trader Joe's

2. DO reinforce the cut edges of your hair with a small amount of nail glue to prevent shedding from the edges of the track.

3. Do use Sebastian Potion #9, a great lightweight curl refresher along with mist from a water bottle to restore wave & curl pattern in between washing your Indian hair.

4. Do use a wide-tooth comb to detangle hair after washing. Support the attachment of the weft when brushing to avoid pulling on your own hair.

5. DON'T use heavy pomades, oils or grease on Indian hair. Indian hair is not used to heavy products and the hair shaft will start to attract dust and pollens from the environment and not behave the way it should.

6.DO use moisturizing conditioners to ensure that the hair lasts long. Indian hair has been cut from the scalps natural oils and you are in a balancing act to not strip the hair of the moisture but not add to much oil to the hair.

7. Do use extreme caution when coloring the hair, although Indian Hair at Sunny's is Virgin Indian hair, you need to gently lift the color or leave the coloring to a professional colorist.

New Items: Bohyme Pre-Tipped Hair Extensions

Sunny's Hair & Wigs is excited to unveil Bohyme's latest offering of pre-tipped hair extensions.

Bohyme Tips allows you to have the name you trust in Remy hair for your strand by strand extensions. Bohyme tips is made of 100% Remy hair in a variety of dimensional colors in three tips, U tip, I tip and V tip.

Bohyme tips is available in the following textures: Silky Straight, Body Wave, Egyptian Wave and Saharian Smooth.

The V Tip is an exciting addition to Sunnyshair.com. V Tip allows for flat invisible extensions that are most similar to So Cap Hair Extensions.

We are finding that most people need 6-8 bags for a complete head of hair extension. A lot of stylists are reporting to us that they love using Bohyme tips for highlights and usually only need two packs to create a nice color weave on top.

Please note that Bohyme tips are only available online.

Looks we love!!! Ellen Pompeo showcasing wigs

Allure Covergirl, Ellen Pompeo graces the magazine with a layout featuring wigs. Sunny's Hair and Wigs know the transforming power of wigs and so we say kudos!

Can't wait to see Pompeo as Meredith on Grey's Anatomy!!

Get your Fave Celeb Looks with Hair Extensions and Wigs

Posh Spice: At it again
We love her. We wait on her to dictate what we wigs we will carry. So after months of looking at the various versions of the same Posh Spice bob we were exhilarated with her new cut. Especially because we already carry several versions of her Mia Farrow inspired pixie cut.

How to get her look: Sensationnel A028 Wig...retails for $24.99
Baby by Signature Wigs: $32.99 available at all Sunny's Hair and Wigs Retail locations.

Blake Lively: Gossip Girl Gorgeous
Another girl we love. Loose and tousled blond hair that is simply gorgeous.

How to get her look: We recommend Bohyme Silky Straight (prices begin at $99 & up) hair or Bohyme Soft Wave . To get Blake's sun-kissed golden blond dimension we would go with colors 24/613, 10/16 or 14/24. If you use Bohyme Silky Straight then use a lightweight leave in conditioner and braid your hair uneven braids. Let them dry and voila...loose tousled waves. Or alternatively, skip the braids and get Bohyme Soft Wave which is lightly processed to have that ever so casual wave we love.

Kerry Washington: We love love love her! She's smart, talented and stylish. Her hair is always soft and tousled yet elegantly styled.

How to get her look: Two words: Indian Hair. We recommend 6 ounces of Indian Natural Wave 14" this retails at $112 & up and is sold online and at all Sunny's Locations. To achieve Kerry's look we suggest sewing in the Natural Wave Indian Hair with a standard u-shaped pattern leaving out the perimeter around the edges and crown. We would pin curl the hair with a large barrel iron and set in pins until they thoroughly cooled (a key tip for styling hair extensions).

Kim Kardashian: She's a known hair extensions fanatic and we are known Kim Kardashian fanatics. Long, gorgeous dark hair looks even better with more long and gorgeous dark hair. We have heard that she favors pre-tipped extensions in the back to add volume and length.

How to get her look: Bohyme Pre-Tipped Hair Extensions in Silky Straight. This retails for $89.99 & up it is only available online. We would suggest adding about four packs if you already have long hair, more if you need a complete transformation.

Lauren Conrad: The Hills features a bevy of girls who rock hair extensions. We love how Lauren gives her hair a break occasionally but we love it more when she puts them back in.

How to get her look: If you want the flexibility of having hair one day and a cute graduated bob the next then you need our Straight and Smooth Clip In Hair Extensions that retail for $99.99 and is available at all Sunny's locations and online.
